About Sheepadoodles

A Sheepadoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Poodle that results in a pretty perfect dog.

Combining the intelligence and the fun personality of a Poodle with the laid-back, sweet silliness of an Old English Sheepdog creates a dog who is intelligent and trainable, sweet and calm, playful and so completely loveable.

These easygoing dogs make wonderful additions to any family. They love children and get along well with other dogs and cats.

Sheepadoodle Adult

Generations F1 vs F1B

A First Generation (F1) Sheepadoodle is produced when you cross an Old English Sheepdog with a Poodle. This combination produces an F1 Sheepadoodle.

An F1B Sheepadoodle is produced by crossing an F1 Sheepadoodle with a Poodle. These dogs will have a higher success rate for non-shedding, and are recommended for families with moderate to severe allergies. At Ocoee River, we will be breeding mostly F1B Sheepadoodles.

Activity level

The Sheepadoodle requires a moderate amount of exercise. They love to play and explore and then come in for cuddles or a nap! Going for a walk or playing using training activities or games are necessary to keep them from getting bored and getting into trouble.

Size

Sheepadoodles vary in size, largely depending on the size of the Poodle used in breeding. The Old English Sheepdog is a large breed, weighing 60-100 pounds. Poodles can weigh 6-70 pounds, depending on whether they are a toy, miniature, or standard size. A Sheepadoodle whose parent breed is a Standard Poodle will typically average 50-70 pounds.

Coat

The coat of a Sheepadoodle can vary from wavy to curly. An F1B Sheepadoodle is more likely to have a tighter wave or curlier coat, and will have very minimal to no shedding. She will need to be brushed daily to keep her coat free from tangles and mats. Her coat can be clipped short or shaved, and this is especially popular during hot weather.

Puppies

Sheepadoodle puppies look like little stuffed animals come to life. As with any dog, socialization and training should start while the dog is still a puppy and continue throughout its life. A well-socialized, well-trained Sheepadoodle is a happy Sheepadoodle and a wonderful family companion.

Life Span

The average lifespan of a Sheepadoodle is 12-15 years, like many other large breed dogs.
